The Indian equity markets continued to languish in the red towards the final hours of trade, thus closing on a weak note. At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex stood lower by 310 points, while the NSE Nifty finished down by 103 points. The S&P BSE Mid Cap and S&P BSE Small Cap indices too closed the day lower by 1.1% and 1.2% respectively. Losses were largely seen in oil & gas, auto and healthcare stocks.
Asian markets finished mixed as of the most recent closing prices. The Hang Seng gained 0.12%, while the Shanghai Composite led the Nikkei 225 lower. They fell 0.23% and 0.18% respectively. European markets are trading lower today with shares in Germany off the most. The DAX is down 0.49%, while France’s CAC 40 is off 0.28% and London’s FTSE 100 is lower by 0.2%.
United Bank of India
United Bank of India has reported a drop of 26.6 per cent in its net profit after tax at Rs 38.32 crore in April-June quarter ended June 30, 2016, hit by higher bad loans.
United Bank of India shares ended the day at Rs 21.95, lower by 0.68 per cent on BSE. It touched an intraday high of Rs 22.40 and low of Rs 21.90 during trade.
Jubilant Life Sciences
Jubilant Life Sciences soared after pharmaceutical and life sciences company reported 22 per cent growth in its consolidated net profit at Rs 162 crore for June quarter 216.
Jubilant Life Sciences ended the day at Rs 367, higher by 7.08 per cent on BSE. It touched an intraday high of Rs 380 and low of Rs 353 during trade.
Motherson Sumi shares dropped after it reported its consolidated net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2016 climbed 15.8 per cent at Rs 439.36 crore from the same period a year ago.
Motherson Sumi shares ended the day at Rs 330, lower by 6.68 per cent on BSE. It touched an intraday high of Rs 355 and low of Rs 316 during trade.
Shares of Aptech surged nearly 5 per cent, hitting 52-week high during intra-trade after ace equity investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala acquired an additional 700,000 shares, or 1.75 per cent stake in the company through open market transaction.
Shares ended the day flat at Rs 62.90. It touched an intraday high and 52-week high of Rs 97.30 during trade.
Shares in Tata Chemicals surged to hit a 52-week high after the company announced the sale of its urea business to Yara for Rs 2670 Crore.
Tata Chemicals shares ended the day at Rs 505.35, higher by 9.25 per cent on BSE. It touched an intraday high and 52-week high 509.30 during trade.
Shares of Adani Ports rallied after it reported a growth of 31 per cent in its consolidated net profit after tax (PAT) for the first quarter ended June 30, 2016.
Adani Ports shares ended the day at Rs 26.70, lower by 3.44 per cent on BSE. It touched an intraday high of Rs 27.85 and low of Rs 26.70 during trade.
